Honouring Isobel Gowdie-3rd Annual Event

Come join us in honouring the memory of the world’s renowned accused witch in Scotland Isobel Gowdie with an evening celebrated by Art, literature, and performance inspired by her story and confessions.

This event will be hosted by both Live streaming and in-person (limited tickets) attendance.

 

The evening’s presentations include:

 

15:00-15:30- Ash William Mills- an introduction and talk by Author and museum curator on Isobel Gowdie titled: The Women, the Witch, and Wise-women of Auldearn.

15:30-16:30- Helen Wright is an artist, storyteller, and writer from Auldearn. She is well known locally for the mural in Auldearn village which visually depicts Isobel Gowdie’s life. Helen will be discussing her artwork and poetry which was inspired by Isobel Gowdie and she will be presenting photos of the mural itself.

16:30-17:00- Break

17:30-18:30- Martin Dey is a local author in Dundee to a series of non-fictional and historical novels in which he will be doing a book signing and reading of his 4th book titled Isobel Gowdie: Alas that I should compare him to a man.

 

18:30-19:00- Evenings performance: Witch? Women on Trial

The true story of the Witches. Humour and horror are woven together with empathy in a shocking insight into the untold stories of ordinary women caught up in a whirlwind of politics, religion, and magic. Be prepared to laugh, and to cry, at the injustices served through their stories.

All proceeds of ticket sales will go to Remembering the Accused Witches of Scotland Charity (RAWS) who have worked hard to get a national monument for all those accused of witchcraft in Scotland over the years.
